Take Ownership of Your Goals in this year and Beyond

If the goals isn’t yours:
Who’s is it?

Most organizations I coach focus on outcome goals, or result goals, as they are also called. The same goes for athletes and sports teams. Results are everything.

Why? Because these goals are easy to measure.

✔️ Turnover
✔️ Market share
✔️ Gold medal

So what’s the problem?

→ Your competitors want that turnover
→ Your competitors want your market share
→ Your competitors want that gold medal

And you can’t control them.

You are often less motivated by what is outside your control. It’s so easy to waste energy on things you can’t anything about. Just look at the ranting and hate on Facebook or twitter X. Yak.

No, take back the initiative. Be so bold that you most likely won’t reach your audacious goals. Instead focus on the steps. And smile 😃

  • Own your goals
  • Define your steps
  • Enjoy your journey

If the goals isn’t yours : Who’s is it?

PS – have you set your goals for 2024 yet?

Team Antoni Explains

Antoni Lacinai emphasizes the importance of taking ownership of one’s goals and not merely pursuing externally defined outcomes, such as turnover, market share, or winning a gold medal.

The central message revolves around the idea that if the goals you’re working towards are not truly your own, then it’s worth questioning whose goals they are.

Lacinai points out that many organizations and individuals focus on measurable outcome goals because they are easily quantifiable. However, he suggests that this focus can be problematic because competitors also aim for the same outcomes, and you cannot control their efforts.

The key insight is that being motivated by external factors, especially those beyond your control, can lead to wasted energy and frustration.

Lacinai encourages a shift in mindset, urging individuals to reclaim the initiative by setting audacious goals that they may not fully achieve. The emphasis is on concentrating on the journey and the steps taken toward the goals rather than fixating solely on the results.

Own Your Goals:

Take the time to define and internalize your goals, ensuring they align with your values and aspirations.

Define Your Steps:

Rather than fixating on the end results, focus on the actionable steps and milestones that lead toward your goals.

Enjoy Your Journey:

Embrace the process, challenges, and learning experiences along the way. Find joy in the pursuit of your goals, irrespective of the final outcomes.

The closing question, “If the goals isn’t yours: Who’s is it?” prompts reflection on whether the objectives being pursued truly align with personal values and desires.

The postscript also encourages readers to think about setting their goals for the upcoming year, emphasizing the ongoing nature of personal and professional development.
